David Balfour, an orphan, is kidnapped to keep from claiming his ancestral Scottish estate. He saves the life of Alan Beck Stewart, a Jacobite wanted by the occupying British Army and they both go on the run. Despite being on opposite political sides, they forge a deep bond of loyalty in David's quest to return to make his claim.
