Winter has kept the Kilchers indoors for eight months, so Eivin and Atz Lee get out to hunt.

The family has several projects to complete before the spring thaw floods the area.

Spring arrives and Atz and family hunt for bear while the rest take care of problems closer to home.

It's midsummer and the Kilchers make the most of 22 hours of sunlight. Atz tracks down predators killing the herd, Otto gets creative to help a cow with an udder problem, Eivin builds an outhouse and Atz Lee and Jane are startled while fishing.

Atz Sr., Atz Lee and Jane travel to the highest peaks to hunt for goat, while a wasp infestation destroys Eivin and Eve's summer honey harvest.

The Kilchers come together to enjoy the fruits of their year-long labor on Thanksgiving and share each dish's story.

A porcupine nails several of the Kilchers' animals with quills, and Atz and his family move a cabin.

Atz and Atz Lee swim their horses across a chilly lake to get to bull moose hunting grounds, and bad weather and feeling under the weather won't deter them from the prize. Eivin helps Eve with a special delivery, while Otto and Charlotte bury a friend.
