Malaterra

The seaside resort of Malaterra, in Corsica, is a haven of peace, a refuge for those who live there; until the death of 11-year-old Nathan occurs. Gendarmerie captain Thomas Rotman, a stranger on the Isle of Beauty, is convinced that the culprit is hiding among the residents of Malaterra.

The police find a large sum of money under Nathan's bed and drugs in Anna, his sister's, room. A shopkeeper reveals to the investigators that she saw Nathan and Lissandre, his best friend, arguing violently the day before the murder. Pierre, Nathan's father, provides a list of people he suspects to the police. Elisabeth, his wife, is surprised as they are all friends.

While Pierre is still in police custody, Lissandre, Nathan's best friend, is being questioned by Captain Rotman. The boy confides in him that Pierre was hitting Nathan. Shortly afterwards, Father Clément visits Elisabeth. The young priest wants to organise a celebration for Nathan and he needs the Viviani's approval.

A boat is burning off the coast of Malaterra beach. Captain Rotman sees it as a sign and thinks the murderer is starting to panic. Sabrina, a journalist, is getting impatient. She tries to convince the Viviani family to talk to her so that things move forward and the investigation progresses. Meanwhile, Karine Marchetti is going to interview Father Clément.

Martine Vaneste's past, the manager of the convenience store, is exposed in the national press. Twelve years earlier, in Brive, she was suspected of belonging to a pedophile network. She was tried and acquitted. But the atmosphere in the village turns to lynching and Karine struggles to maintain order. Pierre grows closer to Elisabeth who confesses to him that she is pregnant.

Martine Vaneste, found dead on the beach, was taken to the morgue for an autopsy and Nathan's body was returned to his parents. Shortly after his funeral, his skateboard was found by Lissandre in the caravan of the enigmatic Suzanne. Meanwhile, Captain Rotman follows Father Clément by car. He sees him enter a house while holding a boy by the hand.

Karine Marchetti takes charge of the investigation while Thomas Rotman is able to return to work. Suzanne Leroy, whose dog is still missing, tells the chief superintendent about the scene she witnessed on the night Nathan died. She also reveals a heavy family secret. Following her revelations, a second suspect is taken into custody.

Lissandre's computer was found along with the threatening emails he had sent to Nathan. The latter had called Karine Marchetti's son a bastard after hearing a confession in the church. Shortly afterwards, Nathan's mobile phone is reactivated. Rotman manages to trace the call: it comes from the house of Rose and Toussaint Olivesi, Karine Marchetti's parents.
