Just William

When the Bott family move into Croombe Hall, William and his gang of Outlaws are horrified to find themselves banned from playing in the woods. But the worst is yet to come – in the form of the frilly yet formidable Violet Elizabeth Bott.

William’s Uncle Neville comes to stay and regales the Brown family with exciting tales of the African savannah. William and the Outlaws decide to prove that English animals can be just as interesting as African ones, but their efforts yield little until they manage to kidnap a parrot.

Summer is nearly upon them, but William and his pals are feeling gloomy. William dreads a bad report card that would send him to summer school, and the boys mourn the firing of Bob, their favorite gardener, by the Botts. The Outlaws hatch a cunning plan to get Bob his job back.

There’s a new girl in the village, a tomboy named Dorinda who loves to catch rats and frogs, and thus earns William’s approval. The school Shakespeare competition seems the perfect opportunity to impress her—but when snotty Dalrymple gets the part of Hamlet, William and his faithful Outlaws are spurred into action.
