Two U.S. correspondents, Robert Cannon and his former flame Helen Davis, are assigned to find a lost detailed report that includes important information on German atomic research. While taking a train to Switzerland to look for the couriers who previously had the documents, they find one dead in their compartment. It's up to Cannon and Davis to find the murderer and retrieve the papers.

Robert Cannon's assignment to cover an ordinary convention in Brussels winds up with two corpses. While there, he is mistaken by a black marketeer for a contact man to receive some stolen diamonds. After the black marketeer realizes Cannon is not the contact and tells him what they are looking for, they promptly have Cannon followed for knowing too much.

A U.S. Correspondent is found dead in Switzerland, and Robert Cannon is questioned and assigned to cover the murder, despite how dangerous the task is. As he investigates, Cannon decides to recreate the final actions of the fellow reporter while simultaneously gathering material on Europe's black markets.

After Cannon and Davis each receive a counterfeit ten dollar bill in an envelope, they discover that three million dollars were printed by the Germans during World War II, but were never recovered and are now stored near the Parisian flea market. The French police, however, do not believe their story.

Robert Cannon is invited to an occupied country for an interview with a fellow reporter, David James, who has been convicted as a spy. Cannon learns that the scribe, in order to make an example out of him, has been forced to confess his guilt and is ultimately protecting a girl. Cannon needs to find the girl, in order to prove the reporter's innocence.

Robert Cannon takes a plane trip with two convicted black marketeers and gets an exclusive interview with death. The two pilots are killed while the plane is on automatic pilot. Cannon realizes he should have heeded the advice of a passenger, when her "woman's intuition" predicted what was going to happen.

Robert Cannon is assigned to cover the murder of a prime minister's secretary, who was killed upon discovering an attempted robbery of a sealed envelope from a high-ranking official. He discovers the drastic measures used to sway an unstable country's political affiliations, and outwits leaders in the opposition party.

After all flights in and out of the country are cancelled, and all borders are closed, Robert Cannon investigates and presses the police for information. He eventually finds himself and the population of the entire country held for ransom by two devious spies who have a secret message to get out of the country.

A former newspaperman discovers that racketeers have confiscated United States relief supplies destined for East Berlin. Robert Cannon learns of this discovery and hastens to warn the man when he fears his life may be in danger. An unknown brother, a hostage, and a phone call reverses the entire situation.

A chance meeting between Robert Cannon and a friend on a train leads to the theft of valuable secrets that his friend is travelling with. A man holds a gun on Cannon and his friend in the train car, and steals the briefcase holding the secrets. Cannon is knocked out, framed for the theft, and ends up in jail.

A convicted man condemned to death seeks an interview with Robert Cannon. The man is convicted for murder, but swears that the suspected victim is still alive. He asks Cannon to help in retrieving a certain envelope that will prove his innocence. Cannon agrees when the convict promises a good story from the envelope's contents.

When an ex-Nazi steel magnate hears that Robert Cannon is writing a series of damaging articles regarding the disposition of several steel mills, he invites the reporter to his castle on the Rhine. The man asks Cannon to give him access to his article before it is run, in order to try to protect his interests.

A former prisoner of war is determined to carry out a private execution of another former prisoner who betrayed his fellow prisoners during the Second World War and is hiding under an assumed identity. When he is falsely accused of a compatriot's murder, he enlists Helen Davis to help prove his innocence, unmask the real killer, and bring the traitor to justice for his crimes.

In 1947, Robert Cannon witnessed the hanging of a German colonel for war crimes. Now, covering a routine story in Stockholm, Cannon hears rumors that the supposedly executed colonel is actually still alive and planning to emerge from hiding as the neo-Nazi movement expands in Europe. When Cannon attempts to investigate the Nazi colonel's reappearance, he is thwarted at every turn.

An authoritarian government plots to procure a list of the leaders of the country's underground movement. Knowing that the underground will seek out a visiting Helen Davis in order to smuggle the list out of the country, the government plans to take the list from her and learn the identities of the underground leaders. The plot reaches its climax during a poker game, but all is not as it seems.

The French police are hunting Louis Grenier, a fugitive who was held responsible for triggering a Nazi massacre of 500 villagers during World War II. When Robert Cannon investigates the story, he is held hostage by Grenier, who claims that another man instigated the massacre in order to hide his own collaboration with the Nazis, and then falsely blamed Grenier to cover his tracks.

After a journalist is assassinated, the assassin is double-crossed and turns to Robert Cannon for help. The assassin had been working for a neo-Nazi leader who is trying to attain power and had the journalist killed in order to cover up facts about the would-be dictator's past that would discredit him with the public. Can Cannon stop this man from becoming the new Führer?

In Amsterdam, the center of the global diamond trade, Robert Cannon's reputation for honesty puts him on the spot when the chief of police trusts him to uncover and trap an international diamond-smuggling ring that uses people like reporters as its carriers. However, the smugglers discover that Cannon is working with the police and plot to assassinate him.

Robert Cannon receives an enigmatic letter from Claire Holt, a former member of the French Underground during World War II. Claire has found the man who informed on her to the Gestapo in Paris. However, after sending the letter, she learns that the man is plotting a new regime with his fellow former Nazis. The man beats Claire, who survives but does not remember anything.

News correspondent Steve Godfrey starts to write a story about investment agent Andrei Sokoloff, known as the "Man with the Midas Touch," whose methods are the subject of questions from financial authorities. Learning from a garrulous barber that there is more to Sokoloff's wealth than meets the eye, Godfrey risks danger by exposing Sokoloff as a swindler.

Robert Cannon reports on an international tribunal's deliberations on an alleged massacre of prisoners during the Second World War. The tribunal fails to uncover any proof of the massacre, but a nurse gives Cannon a clue to hidden evidence. Cannon must go undercover in a hospital to uncover the truth, which will affect the outcome of a general's political campaign.

Robert Cannon displays a newsman's characteristic of impatience when a top-secret code book goes missing. In the Code Room, the man who was decoding the book gets hit over the head, and an imposter courier steals it from him in exchange for ten million francs and a passport. Cannon, being in the same building at the time of the crime, finds himself as the chief suspect.
