Punk rock singer Yohei (Masahiro Motoki) agrees to spend a year as a Buddhist monk in order to inherit his family's temple. Struggling to adapt to the rigors of monastic life, he soon discovers that even the most devout monks have their own ways of bending the rules. But when his estranged girlfriend reappears, Yohei must decide between his worldly desires and his spiritual future.
