Tim Gunn and a panel of fashion professionals, which include previous Project Runway designers, interview thousands of possible contestants for the third season of Project Runway.

Fifteen new designers arrive to kick off Season 3. In the first challenge, the source for design is the contents of each designers' Atlas apartment.

The designers create a dress for an "American Beauty." Miss USA, Tara Conner, is revealed - and it's also announced that she will wear the winning design in the next Miss Universe pageant.

The designers are told that they will make a creation for an accessory. Transported to Central Park, Tim Gunn reveals their inspiration: dogs!

The show begins with a twist: the models choose their designers. After that, the models continue to drive the challenge as each one chooses a Fashion Icon for their designer must create a look for.

The designers are led to a Waste Management recycling plant in northern New Jersey for an innovation challenge. Once there, they have 30 minutes to source all their materials for the next design.

Eight designers remain. Heidi tells the designers they will be creating a look for an "everyday woman," and they are shocked to discover that the models are their mothers and sisters.

The designers need to create an outfit for an international jet-setter. The twist: They will be that jet-setter. After a review on the runway, the final test will be how their creations travel.

The designers are in Paris for this challenge. They are asked to make a couture gown that will be judged by Catherine Malandrino. Designers have two days for the challenge.

In this Challenge, any designer that won a previous Challenge is brought back to compete again. Designers are asked to design a cocktail dress in a black and white palette.

The designers make one signature piece that represents their point of view as a designer. They also must choose three adjectives to describe their design style.

The Season 3 cast is reunited to discuss the drama from the competition. There are now four finalists. Also, one designer wins the first "Fan Favorite" award -- and a check for $10,000.
