The Saddle Club happily return from holidays to Pine Hollow. However, the rivalry between the Saddle Club and Veronica is as healthy as ever and Veronica soon challenges the girls to a cross country race. The Pine Hollow students set off on their race each armed with a compass and map.

Fresh from a riding lesson with Miss Amelia, Carole is devastated to learn her father Colonel Hanson is being deployed overseas. The situation only gets worse, when Carole finds out she must now live with her Aunt Penny in the city, leaving the Saddle Club and Starlight behind.

Intent on keeping Carole from moving to the city, Stevie and Lisa try to un-arrange Carole’s accommodation with her Aunt Penny only to be found out by Colonel Hanson. Unable to leave Starlight behind, Carole resolves to runaway with her horse. When Lisa and Stevie eventually find her, Carole urges them to camp out so her father and Mrs. Reg can’t find them.

The mysterious dishevelled girl introduces herself as Desi, an experienced rider who has just moved to the district. Surprised that her father hasn’t organized her riding lessons, Desi tells the Saddle Club she was thrown from her horse Midnight earlier that morning and he’s run off yet again.

On their second trip to Fox Tail Creek with Desi, the Saddle Club are horrified to discover their favorite riding trail has been closed to the public. Meanwhile Veronica feels left out after witnessing the budding friendship between the girls. When Desi reveals her father is the new owner of Fox Tail Creek, the Saddle Club beg Desi to make him change his mind.

Stevie accepts a challenge from Phil and Murray to race to the aqueduct to prove herself. Stevie easily wins the race much to the surprise of the boys, who then ask her to compete with them in the Willow Creek time trial. Stevie is excited about the upcoming competition but Lisa and Carole are worried it will clash with their musical dressage event.

When runaway miniature donkey Trouble spooks Belle, Stevie falls from her horse spraining her ankle and has to stop riding for a week. To assure Stevie she won’t fall behind, Carole suggests she and Lisa stop riding too. Veronica overhears the promise and bets the girls they can’t stay out of the saddle.

After stumbling upon a disused mine, the Saddle Club, Melanie and Jess are fascinated when Jess’s Grandfather, “The Great Orlando” also known as Strongest Man in the World tells them Willow Creek was once full of gold. Veronica dismisses the story and even mocks his titles, upsetting Jess. The Saddle Club seek revenge for Jess and teach Veronica some manners.

Having forged a bond with Midnight, Simon cannot stomach the thought of the beautiful horse being put down...so he resolves to do something about it - and the Saddle Club are quick to involve themselves in a good cause.

It is the annual trials to set the rankings for the Pine Hollow students and Veronica is looking down the barrel of coming second to Stevie...this prompts Veronica to do something extreme.

Stevie finds an old championship medallion near the remains of a unused mine shaft. The Saddle Club are curious and ask Max about the medallion, and are told it came from the Sweetwater Pony Club. Jack and Max also tell the Saddle Club about the legend of the ghostly grey mare up on Old Sweetwater’s Haunted Hill. Mrs.

Carole shows signs of a cold, Lisa is quick to launch into mother mode and tries to get her better. But when Stevie and Lisa realize Carole is only sick when she is around Starlight and suggest she could be allergic to horses, Carole is defensive and dismisses the idea.

Diablo appears when Lisa is out on a ride with Prancer, and she quickly gallops after him. Lisa returns to Pine Hollow excited about Diablo’s return, but Stevie and Carole are skeptical and try to resume their study session for exams just days away. Unfortunately Lisa is more distracted than ever and she promises to study only after they find him.

Pine Hollow is quarantined by a suspected outbreak of equine influenza. Lisa has to bring Diablo in to establish if he is the source of the outbreak.

Missing her mother, Carole takes Starlight out for a ride when she comes across a ghostly silver Welsh pony. Carole is surprised when the pony acts aggressively towards her, but she soon realizes the pony was just trying to protect her from a snake. Stevie and Lisa are concerned when they hear Carole’s story about the mysterious pony, Carole seems to be off in her own world.

With nearly everyone away, Veronica is quick to take control of Pine Hollow. Insisting on change in order for things to run smoothly, Veronica removes Trouble from the Stables, but this only upsets the miniature and his friend Danville Duchess and their cries can be heard across the property. Despite their protests Veronica then gives Melanie and Jess them a chore.

An adventurous mock fox hunt turns dire for Simon the Fox when he rides into dangerous terrain and is injured. Will the other Pine Hollow students stop bickering and find him in time?

After a rigorous practice session in the arena, Carole and Stevie notice Prancer isn’t moving right and suggest Lisa call the Vet. The Vet confirms their suspicions telling them Prancer’s old leg injury has flared up and prescribes some cortisone. Lisa is disappointed when the Vet can’t tell her if she can definitely ride again tomorrow and Mrs.

Veronica feels humiliated when she fails to clear the double oxer during a riding lesson and immediately blames Garnet and stable hand Jack. But when Lisa corrects her, saying Garnet just needs better treatment, Veronica dismisses the claim and vows to make Garnet an obedient horse at any cost.

When Veronica finds out guest student, Samantha Askew is linked to the Royal Family she sets about improving everything at Pine Hollow and putting a stop to the annual fun day. Offering up Garnet for Samantha to ride, Veronica is disgruntled when Samantha chooses to take Willow out with the Saddle Club instead.

After helping Stevie, Lisa and Carole out in the arena, the Saddle Club agree for Simon to join them on a ride, much to the disappointment of Melanie who is also keen to join the group. Before they head out on their hack, Lisa is horrified to discover Melanie has left an embarrassing home video of her asleep, snoring and clutching a teddy bear in the lounge for all to see.

When Jack fails to impress Vince Bernouli and gain entry to his prestigious equine training school, he decides to give up being a horseman and resigns from Pine Hollow. Not wanting Jack to go, Stevie, Simon and Desi convince Max to offer him an office job in the hope that they can somehow reignite Jack’s love of horses.

As the Pine Hollow students excitedly prepare for their trip to the Willow Creek Gymkhana, Max arrives with bad news: The nearby bridge has been washed away in a flash flood and they’ll be stuck on the property for the next 24 hours. Everyone is excited by the idea of a sleepover except Veronica.

On the morning of the Saddle Club Anniversary, Carole is putting if putting the finishing touches on a beautiful hand painted horse statue that she accidently knocks over in an attempt to hide the statue from Lisa and Stevie. Carole is horrified. Stevie is horrified when Lisa reveals her Saddle Club Anniversary present are very girly tops she made for each of them.
