The Killing

It’s Sarah’s last day as head of investigations, and she is in the midst of saying her goodbyes and acquainting her replacement with pending cases, when she gets a disturbing dispatch.

Theis and Pernille’s worst fear has come to pass. Their 19-year-old daughter, Nanna, is found abused and killed. The particulars of the case are now to be determined.

Sarah and Jan are convinced that they know the whereabouts of John Lynge, who is wanted by the police. Jan doesn’t want to wait for reinforcements, and his reluctance affects the investigation.

Sarah and Jan have located a room in the high school’s basement with traces of various kinds of drugs, blood and some clothes of Nanna’s which indicate that something violent has taken place here.

Something indicates that Sarah and Jan ought to turn their attention away from the high school students and in a different direction. Things are looking up for Troels and his campaign.

Troels is heading for trouble after someone in his department apparently tried to hide the fact that one of Nanna’s teachers has previously been involved in a situation with a very young girl.

Just as Jan is starting to think that he is now in charge of the investigation of the crime, Sarah returns. She’s deeply concerned because Theis has disappeared with Rama.

Aided by the local imam, Sarah and Jan find the place where Rama’s helper is staying and make some findings, which strengthen the suspicion against Rama.

Sarah and Jan are stuck in their investigation, and the superintendent gives them 24 hours to obtain conclusive information, or they will be taken off the case.

Sarah and Jan pursue a new lead in their investigation and are taken by complete surprise when their boss intervenes. The fact that Sarah ignores her boss’ orders is not without consequences.

Sarah has found the apartment that Nanna had a key to. The apartment belongs to the Liberals, and it shows signs of a life-and-death struggle with clear evidence of Nanna’s presence.

Sarah and Jan interrogate Troels after he’s been cautioned. The police’s material is comprehensive and incriminating, and Troels agrees to divulge private information.

The spotlight of the police and media is now trained on Troels Hartmann, and he feels his political career is crumbling. Meanwhile strange things are going on at the town hall with fatal consequences.

The police and Troels Hartmann are equally convinced that Olav Kristensen knows who’s been involved in Nanna’s death – but now Olav is dead, killed by a hit-and-run driver outside the town hall.

Sarah has brought herself in a life-threatening situation, and neither Jan nor anyone else knows where she is. Meanwhile, it looks like the pieces are falling into place regarding the perpetrator.

Sarah and Jan’s boss decides that Nanna’s case is solved, the murderer being Jens Holck, but Sarah isn’t sure and continues her investigation alone.

Sarah and Jan are convinced that there is a link between Nanna’s murder and a 15-year-old unsolved case. Furthermore, they think they know where to find the evidence and the perpetrator.

When Sarah and Jan go to check out an abandoned warehouse to look for evidence, they’re not alone – and it has dire consequences. Meanwhile, a taxi driver has vanished from the face of the earth.

The police hunt for the taxi driver, who has disappeared, takes a new turn, and meanwhile Sarah is overwhelmed by problems in every aspect of her life.

Sarah has been taken off the Nanna Birk Larsen case, but nonetheless she continues her investigation. She is sure of the identity of the perpetrator, but lacks the incriminating evidence.
