Peter helps an Iraq War veteran get decent compensation for the loss of his leg, while Lyle defends the man’s girlfriend in a sexual discrimination case when her application to enlist is denied.

Local farmer Geraldine Merrick suspects vandalism when crop circles appear in her fields, but a UFO enthusiast, Terry, is convinced it is the work of aliens. Peter believes Terry's neglected son and friends know more than they're saying about the mysterious circles.

A doctor at a research lab seeks Peter's help in defending her daughter, who vandalized the lab to expose the animal testing happening there. Meanwhile, Lyle defends a group of nuns evicted by a greedy developer.

Promiscuous judge Jeremy Harding is sent compromising photos of himself with a younger woman and blames Beatrice. Harding tasks Peter with finding the blackmailer, while Lyle works with a group of Druids who believe the golf club is an ancient worship site.

Peter represents Andrew Risden when he is refused permission to film his daughter Abigail, a prodigy cellist, at her recital. But then Abigail runs away, fearing the pressure from the adults in her life. Lyle goes home to Stockport to help his mother.

Peter is admitted to the hospital for some tests, but the results are not what he expected. Meanwhile, he is involved in a dispute between two brothers over their estate, and Lyle suspects a local chemical farm of polluting the river.
