David Dominé is an American actor, television personality, and award-winning author based in Louisville, Kentucky. Known for his vivid storytelling and deep connection to Southern and Midwestern culture, Dominé has built a multifaceted career that blends a love of folklore with performance, cooking, writing, and historical preservation. Dominé is best known for serving as the primary consulting voice and a frequent on-screen presence in the HBO Original Murder in Glitterball City, inspired by his 2021 true-crime memoir A Dark Room in Glitter Ball City. He also appears as an author and historian on television programs such as The Dead Files (Travel Channel), Ghost Hunters (SyFy), and The First 48 (A&E), where he shares his expertise on true crime and the paranormal. He often appears on the local news and PBS-affiliate specials such as Haunted Louisville and the local Emmy Award-winning David Dominé and Old Louisville's Haunted Places. Dominé's literary work includes over a dozen books that explore Kentucky's rich cultural tapestry, but he has published many short stories, poems, and translations as well. His acclaimed true-crime memoir, A Dark Room in Glitter Ball City, investigates the 2009 murder of drag queen Jamie Carroll in a historic Old Louisville mansion. Often described as the next Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil, the book has been praised for its compelling narrative and detailed portrayal of the city's eccentric characters. Beyond writing, Dominé is the founder of Louisville Historic Tours, which offers guided walks through the most interesting neighborhoods in the city he has called home since 1993. His tours, recommended by The New York Times, delve into the area's architecture, quirky claims to fame, culinary traditions, and supernatural lore. He is also the creator and longtime organizer of the Victorian Ghost Walk®, an annual theatrical event that brings the haunted characters from his books to life in Old Louisville, one of the most well-preserved historic preservation districts in the U.S. An educator, Dominé teaches foreign languages and translation at Bellarmine University. He holds an MFA in Writing from Spalding University, an MA in Spanish Literature from the University of Louisville, and an MA in German Literature from the University of California, Santa Barbara. He also went to law school at the University of Louisville and studied literary translation at Karl-Franzens Universität in Graz, Austria. Fluent in several languages, David Dominé likes to travel and often leads study groups through Europe and Latin America. He's traveled to about 100 of the world's countries and has lived in the Philippines, Mexico, Germany, Austria, Italy, and Spain. Almost as much as writing and traveling, he enjoys cooking, eating, and old houses. Dominé is represented by Alice Speilburg of Speilburg Literary Agency, and his publicist is Jamie Estes of Estes PR, both in Louisville, Kentucky.
